Yes to the first question. The mail room staff would have no idea about the restraining order and the letter would reach the inmate. The second question is a little tricky. If he knows he has a restraining order and willfully breaks it, it will add to his current woes in dealing with the current charges he is being held for. We do not have access to internal programming schedules. We have found the ASPC counselors to be very helpful, we recommend calling there and asking nicely what the current schedules are (and is my inmate eligible?). It makes your request more personal.

There is no way to predict the outcome of your person's case, but the feds have an unlimited amount of money and once they get their hooks in you, it is reasonable to predict a win in court - they win 97% of the time.

Without knowing more about your inmate's particular sentence, the mandatory minimum means exactly how it sounds. If the offender is guilty of a charge with a mandatory minimum sentence, the judge is pretty much duty-bound to follow the sentencing guidelines of the state. The judge does not get to interject his "judgement" if leniency is their preference, the law stops them from deviating.

They do have to come up with the stamp for the letter to be mailed. Once it arrives here, we scan it and place it in your account under Letters from Inmates. There is no cost to the inmate through InmateAid whatsoever.

It will take a few days. You wil need to contact the counselor at the facility and explain what you would like them to do. You might have to fax a written and signed letter requesting the block be removed.
