Less money means less salary options which means fewer guards on each shift, lower quality of food (if that is possible), less transfers, less recreation, less medical... budget cuts for corrections will trickle down into all facets of the prison operations.

We are not familiar with the "10% rule". There are several places with over-populated county jails where male inmates often are released after serving as little as 10% of their sentences and female prisoners after 5%. This is not prevalent everywhere, just in extreme over-crowding where they can justify the unusual practice.

No, but if they have money they are responsible for buying stamps and letter writing materials. If they have no money, indigent inmates are provided writing material and stamps by the institution.

The only way an inmate can gain a transfer is by having 6 - 18 months of perfect behavior. Each facility is different, have your inmate sit down with his counselor and set up some criteria to follow in order to get the transfer.

Yes, they can call anytime as long as they have money on their books or you have a prepaid account set-up and funded through the carrier at the facility

This happens with some of the more well-known inmates that people write to often. We are happy to do this for you if you give us the information. Once it is active, we will notify you by email. The only information that is strongly suggested is the inmate's ID number
