If you call the office between 8am and 6pm Eastern Time, someone will talk you through the process. It is easier than you think, but sometimes the first attempt can be a little confusing. When you call, tell them Ask the Inmate said to ask for a coupon to try the service for free (one letter and one photo).

Control review refers to the custody classification where the inmates will live and at what custody level. Each prison system has a process for determining where an inmate should be housed. Each facility within the system is operated on one or more custody levels. Inmates may be promoted to lower custody levels during routine reviews if considered appropriate. The custody levels are high or maximum, medium, low and minimum (camp).

The hole anywhere sucks. It is solitary confinement. There is nothing good about it, except you can sleep a lot... which gets old in a hurry.

The transfer to a state or federal facility will require that an Admission and Orientation process be concluded before privileges are instated. That being said, there are no restrictions on writing letters, only for the use of the phone and visitation until A & O is completed. This process could take a week or so, especially if the transfer required a stop or two along the way.

If the inmate is in state or federal, there is a system they can check to see if their funds have arrived on their books. 

It is possible that it is partially correct. But is sounds a little fishy. Paroled inmates are oftentimes provided transportation and we've never heard that the inmate had to pay for ankle monitoring, but it's possible that they now charge. We would encourage you to contact the facility and ask to speak with a counselor that is in charge of your inmate's re-entry. They will know 100% what is real and what is not.

Depending on where you inmate was picked up, they will be taken to a federal detention facility. If your inmate is in Kansas, there is only one federal facility, it is at Leavenworth KS. But that really has nothing to do with what holding facility if the trial is not in Leavenworth. They will decide wher to detain them based on where the trial will be held.

In disciplinary hearings, there are no lawyers or advocates to plead the inmate's case. The investigative wing of the facility will interview and question others that they think are involved, or have any information to add to their file. The lead officer, the DHO will preside over the 5-10 minute hearing and make their recommendation right there.
