Not normally. If you are in federal, you cannot. If you are going to state, it depends on which but most do not permit pre-ordering. You can always set up your money beforehand if you have an ID number and shop the day you are eligible.

There is a short orientation period where the incoming inmates get acclimated to the rules, regulations and expectations. Once they are settled (less than a week normally), they can access the phone, commissary and create visiting lists.

Usually 2-3 business days does the trick, but there are sometimes delays inside the facility mail room that are outside of anyone's control. Our letters have the InmateAid logo on the envelope and the mail staff knows that we only send letters and photos, there are no marketing pieces or anything that might delay delivery to the inmates.

I was actually there for three months, the visitation is in a room with tables and chairs, a platform for a single guard and some vending machines. We were able to hug and kiss upon arrival and departure. We held hands under the table the entire visit. The visitors go through a very vigorous and intrusive "pat down". He will do 85% of 72 months or 61.2 months... about 5 years. This 15% is good time credited at the beginning of his bid, he can only screw up and lose that. If he is federal, there is a drug program that will shave off 12 months for successful completion. There are few other ways to gain an earlier release aside from snitching. The government rewards snitches with early release.
