The only approved size that fits all of the prison criteria is what InmateAid prints it's pictures on - 4" x 6" glossy photo paper. Polaroid-type paper is definitely not allowed or any multi-layered paper. Also, computer generated photos are not allowed in the majority of facilities.

You can use the website without entering an inmate ID number. That being said, the real problem happens when trying to send things to them into a prison or jail. They typically require the ID number on any correspondence, therefore we recommend including it. If you cannot find it, you can ask us to help or simply call the facility and ask them - they will give it to you with no problem.

Yes, any time spent in custody is counted as a day incarcerated. You can turn yourself in, get fingerprinted and post bond and leave in two hours and that will count as a one day credit for time served.

Some facilities have an online commissary option, but your question does not include a location. Other options for you to contemplate are sending something that will last all year - like a magazine subscription or some books. There is no better way to help your inmate "escape" during some of the long hours of boredom.

If his longest sentence is 3 years, he will do 85% of 3 years. If he has 16 months, he will do 85% of 16 months.

If he was in another federal prison and was transferred to FDC Miami, then all of his money and property will transfer with him. If it was another system he was in, then we are not sure if it will transfer. The money and the might get sent home - it will depend on where he was. Inmates in the federal system are given the basic necessities for hygiene even if they cannot go to commissary because they lack funds.

We get you a local telephone number to use with the service at the prison. You cannot use this as a substitute for them, nor can you accept a collect call through our number. The easiest way is to have your inmate buy calling cards from the commissary and dial the local number we issued you - it will ring on your number without changing anything on your end.
