No, you cannot see what they inmates spend their money on. But, what are you worried about? Maybe he's buying candy, or snacks, or sneakers or medicine - it most certainly would be a very uninteresting list. Inmates are entitled to privacy - that includes the commissary purchases, or who sends them money, or who is on their call list or who is on their visiting list.

Read moreIf he is in the hole, he is safe. The hole is used for disciplinary reasons but also for protective measures, too. If he told the staff that he was scared for his life, he basically asked for help, to be "checked in to pc", or protective custody. He is likely to remain in the hole for the entire sentence unless they transfer him.

No one, not even a judge can designate an offender (they can only suggest or recommend, but the corrections department is independent and not bound to abide). Non-violent offenders are normally placed in minimum custody level facilities, especially if the sentence is under twelve months.
