It depends on the security classification of the prison/detention center. Some are strict no-contact visitations and others have a picnic-like setting where you can interact and have light contact, even enjoying snacks from a variety of vending machines.

Subject: Sentence reduction

The new law is for federal inmates only.  It pertains to the mandatory minimum sentencing guidelines that have been changed retroactively by the US Sentencing Commission. There may be some trickle-down effect to the state level as each is looking at own mandatory minimums and the money it would save lightening the prison population. If anything does happen, it will happen first for the non-violent offenders. Recalculation is rarely if ever done.

It has everything to do with the charges, the criminal history of the offender, the judge/prosecutors confidence that the person will not leave the jurisdiction and that there would not be additional crimes committed. That is a lot to contemplate, but it might just be that there was limited space in the jail and she was the least likely for them to have a problem with.

Intake is where the people coming into a facility are first processed. They are usually there for several hours to several days. Once they are designated, they are usually moved to a more "permanent" housing facility.

When the judge says, "time served", that means that whatever time he has accumulated awaiting the sentencing, is applied to the sentence. He should get with his counselor or case manager to make sure that he is getting proper calculation - they should then be able to give him a new "out date".

Violations for not charging his anklet sounds like BS to us. ALL of the recharging of ankle bracelets are not requirements of the offender wearing them. They are not to be removed and cannot be charged while being worn. IF there is an issue, the probation officers get a "battery low" warning and then call the person in to have the anklet changed out. There are too many possible variables for us to determine or guess how much time
